God has shown me that my new “home,” as we like to call it at our house, is in James. He has spoken to me especially through these verses in chapter 1:
2 Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, 3 for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. 4 And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
Some initial thoughts:
- All? really ? count it all? no matter what? Its all joy?
- WHEN you meet trials, NOT if. So, they are going to come.
- I long for steadfastness! To be thankful to God for EVERY circumstance (that’s where the “all” comes in again)
With all the change in our lives at the moment, this passage has been dear to me.
It has been doubly dear to me as our best friends undergo the “when” in their lives right now as God carries them through the trial He has for them now. Please pray with us that God would continue to produce the steadfastness in their hearts that we already see. What a joy to see these verses lived out. What an encouragement that God is faithful to put a desire in your hearts to really count it ALL joy…really. Pray with us for the salvation of those who see the Sheridans “count it all joy!” Oh that they might see Christ and their need for Him, the One who gives joy unimaginable!
We are officially back from UBC (urban boys camp). 11 inner-city youth and 6 counselors. This years theme was “the summing up of all-things in Christ” Ephesians 1:9-10.
God has began a work in some of these young mens lives. Pray we can continue to pour into them throughout the year and keep pointing them to the word, so they can be pointed to Christ. Pray that God would grant them a heart of flesh and remove the heart of stone.
May God get the glory from these and spend them in their own neighborhood for the sake of Christ and His glorious name and renown!
We just showed the House for a second time to the same folks. They scheduled an appointment to look from 3 to 4 today. Keep praying that they would love this cute home and want to buy it. Pray also that if that is the case, that paperwork would be a breeze. Thank you all, let us continue to pray expectantly to our great God!
He does NOT fail !
The garage sale is over! The Lord is so kind and really knows what is best for us. What a whirl wind of blessings this past week has been. He has graciously provided for our family again and has used many of you to do so. Thank you and we love you so much. May God be glorified among the nations.
